When you choose Novant Health Surry Medical Associates for your family's medical care, your children can see the same providers you know and trust for your own medical care. With physicians board certified in pediatrics and family medicine, our team can offer comprehensive primary care to children from infancy through adolescence, including:
Starting just days after birth, we will see your baby to monitor your child's weight gain and development, and to answer any questions you have about caring for your newborn. We understand that new parents can have plenty of concerns and we work to help you find answers and calm your fears. Recommended vaccines are also part of your baby's doctor visits.
Regular checkups throughout childhood give your child a chance to develop a relationship with his provider, and allow your child's provider to monitor his ongoing health and development. These visits can include checks of height and weight; routine hearing and eye exams; visual exams of eyes, ears, nose, throat and skin; and lab tests when necessary. There will be time to address any developmental or behavioral concerns. We can also often complete necessary forms for school or sports participation during well-child visits.
When your child is not feeling well, you can see a provider quickly for diagnosis and any necessary treatment. We reserve same-day and next-day appointments for sick patients so you can skip a trip to urgent care for help with a sick child! And, our early morning walk-in clinic allows your child to be seen without an appointment from 7:30 a.m. until 9 a.m. Monday through Friday so you can see a provider before making a decision about school or daycare attendance. Come here to see a provider you know so your child can start feeling better quickly.
School, camp & sports physicals
If your child needs a medical form completed before attending school or camp, or participating in a sport, we are here to help. Many of these forms can be completed at the same time as your child's annual checkup. If they require testing not normally included in a checkup or need a special appointment to be completed, you might be responsible for the cost as insurance often does not cover these services. If you have received a form that needs to be completed, bring that form with you as we will not have access to it in our office.
Healthy Family Program
Patients of Novant Health Surry Medical Associates have access to the Healthy Family Program at the Novant Health Maya Angelou Women's Health & Wellness Center. This program helps both children and adults take control of their weight with the help of physicians and nutritionists. Education and counseling helps your family support each other as you learn to lead a healthier life.
